Radical changes are taking place in the classroom. As an education expert, it’s essential to keep up with evolving and disruptive transformations.

The traditional academic environment is changing in many ways. For example, a recent survey reveals that 75-percent of educators believe that digital technology will eliminate textbooks by the year 2020. The following passages go into detail about this and 6 other technology trends that are emerging in education.

Trend 1: Virtual Reality Is on the Rise with Education Technology

Virtual reality (VR) is an excellent learning tool that gives students hands-on training in the classroom. Students use the technology to develop their skills through meaningful experiences.

VR learning presentations imprint strongly on young minds. From visiting prehistoric times to postulating on the future, there’s almost no limit to the creative lessons that educators can develop using virtual reality systems.

Trend 2: Educators Are Moving Beyond Digital Citizenship Toward Digital Leadership

A recent poll reveals that 61-percent of employers believe that employee roles have evolved.  Today, leadership training is starting at the K-12 level and continuing through university studies.

Educators are now teaching students digital leadership, which encompasses using the Internet and resources such as social media to enhance the quality of life and well-being of others. Teachers hope that by teaching digital leadership students will learn empathy and gain an understanding of how to relate to others.

Trend 3: Educators Are Leveraging Gamification and More Tech in Education

Effective educators work to develop students’ imagination and creativity, rather than teach them simply how to memorize facts. If students enjoy their lessons, they’re more likely to be interested in lessons and look forward to learning new concepts.

In league with this thinking, game-based learning (GBL) is growing extremely popular in the classroom. This educational gamification is tied tightly to school curriculums and help students engage with their lessons in a relatable way.

Trend 4: Education is Leaving Books and Giving Way to the Cloud

Textbooks are expensive and heavy for students of all ages, from grade school to college. Cloud-based books, however, may provide a solution for this conundrum.

The technology significantly reduces the cost of publishing and duplicating books. As a result, publishers can charge less for learning materials.

Trend 5: Teachers Are Using Technology More in Education to Improve Classrooms

Bullying has moved to the forefront of the conversation of many educators in recent years. Fortunately, emerging technologies are helping educators identify and deal with bullying, especially cyberbullying.

Now, digital policing resources are growing increasingly necessary in an age where anyone can contact nearly anyone else in the world via social media in seconds. Along with online safety software, today’s educators have many options for protecting students in and out of the classroom.

Trend 6: Students Are Getting Educated on the Go with Technology

Even from a young age, nearly all students own or have access to a mobile device. Resultantly, learners are highly acclimated to using technology.

More educators recognize this. Duly, they are leveraging technology as an effective tool for reaching young minds.

Mobile learning technologies are a cost-effective resource for teachers. Because of its cost efficiency and familiarity with students, it’s very likely that educators and learners will see more mobile teaching tools in the classroom.

Trend 7: Educators Recognize the Importance of Technology and Coding

To succeed in the marketplace of the future, it’s important to learn skills that will be in high demand. In an unlikely twist, somehow the maker movement is encouraging youth to learn about technology. Coding is now part of the maker movement mix.

This should work out well for students, as analysts forecast that the maker movement will grow in tandem with the demand for coding skills. Resultantly, students will learn to work with relevant technologies such as computer code, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT).

VR, mobile devices, the IoT and cloud technology are growing increasingly prominent in the halls of academia. These innovations are preparing students to work with the technologies of the future while enhancing their creativity and learning experiences.

Furthermore, advanced resources, such as mixed reality, are enabling students to have fun while they learn. These kinds of innovations will be drivers of enhanced learning in the near future.

Technology is an exceptional learning resource that helps young minds to discover, experiment and voice their opinions. Moreover, it’s allowing educators to fulfill one of their primary goals, which is to make learning accessible to all.

A new generation of learning has arrived. Educators are returning to harnessing the creativity of youth using resources and practices such as gamification and interactive group learning. As technologies evolve and teachers take advantage of these powerful resources, modern educators are well on their way to preparing the workforce of tomorrow for a bright future.
