Why today’s business decision-makers need data and robots

Would you make a large decision – like purchasing a home, a boat or a car – without all of the necessary information? Big decisions, especially those involving a large budget, require you to have adequate data to ensure that the choice you’re making is the right one.

When you’re an executive or manager at a company, you frequently have to make big decisions that will affect your entire team or department and ultimately, the entire enterprise. Hence, it’s vital to have the necessary data to make important business choices. Today’s technologies – such as artificial intelligence, business process automation, robotic process automation (RPA) and other automated tools – are creating a data-driven decision-making revolution.

Research group IDC predicts that the volume of data in the world will grow to 163 zettabytes by 2025 – 10 times the amount in 2016. More information is essential if you’re a manager because it allows you to make more informed decisions. But how can you filter through the influx of information to find what is useful for making those decisions?

A growing number of businesses are taking advantage of RPA, which partially or fully automates human activities that are manual, rule-based, and repetitive, freeing up humans to focus on more pertinent tasks. RPA can read the information that comes into your organisation, pull out the pertinent data based on your unique business rules, organise it and send it through an automated workflow process. You only see the information that’s important to you – and you can retrieve it easily rather than repeatedly looking at each document that comes into your e-mail or physical mailbox. Once you decide on an automation solution, the implementation team can analyse your current processes and provide pointers and advice to assure a seamless implementation and ongoing success.

RPA harnesses data so that you can take the guesswork out of your business decisions. It makes managing data more strategic, efficient and relevant to your organisation. Thanks to RPA, it’s time to enter a new data-driven decision-making revolution.
