there has been a lot of talk around the new normal.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3746ff0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3746ff0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>But what exactly is the new normal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christinadisler.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christina Disler<\/a>, no one really knows.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you ask me, the new normal is moment by moment. Contrary to what many believe, mindfulness is not\u00a0simply\u00a0meditation, \u201cit\u2019s a skill we can develop; it\u2019s our ability to rebound and come to the present moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b39f02c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b39f02c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><strong>The Leadership Model of Days Gone By<\/strong><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a4237b2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a4237b2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cSo much leadership in the past has been future-focused. This has created and nurtured a culture of overdrive and burnout. Think about it, how many times have you been unable to celebrate achieving a goal because you were already thinking about working on achieving the next one?\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>In addition to the stress-inducing chase of the future and it\u2019s associated planning,\u00a0professionals have been conditioned to separate work from their personal lives, something that causes internal tension, according to Disler.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>This can have adverse effects on an individual, but also on a company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cInnovation and creativity are optimized when we can be connected with ourselves. This means we have to establish a new cadence and rapport around our communication.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Trust is a key element of successful leadership.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cOur old structures of companies, which were very hierarchical, are naturally becoming more flat as more people work remotely. Leaders can no longer see employees at their desks from 9 to 5 from the comfort of their corner office; which means that leaders have to trust teams and team members to do their jobs to the best of their ability.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Beyond trust, leaders can also set an example by being accepting and patient with employees. This is particularly important from a mental health standpoint.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cWe already have enough energetic weight with all that\u2019s happening in the world, from politics to the pandemic. The way we lead teams has to come from a different place if we want to help people better cope with the stress and anxiety that might be associated with current situations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cIf leaders are able to accept that people might be struggling with their mental health and if they are patient with each team member, they will find that people will find it easier to let go of fear and anxiety.
