{"id":7929,"date":"2020-05-26T06:41:29","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T06:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.experfy.com\/?p=7929"},"modified":"2023-12-11T14:10:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T14:10:25","slug":"new-reality-how-employers-can-prepare-for-the-future-of-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.experfy.com\/blog\/future-of-work\/new-reality-how-employers-can-prepare-for-the-future-of-work\/","title":{"rendered":"New Reality: How Employers Can Prepare For The Future Of Work"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"7929\" class=\"elementor elementor-7929\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-93de24e elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"93de24e\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-175fae2a\" data-id=\"175fae2a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-15f3426d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"15f3426d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Employers across the country have been tasked with reworking their physical workplaces, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.experfy.com\/blog\/rethinking-success-in-the-future-of-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rethinking <\/a>their customer experience and ramping up their digital capabilities for a future that\u2019s still mired in question marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For companies that are transitioning out of a significant shutdown, some top priorities include recalling workers and addressing new health and safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46a01f0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"46a01f0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>\u201cIf employees have been laid off, you\u2019d have to recall them to work formally,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stikeman.com\/en-ca\/people\/kathleen-chevalier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kathleen Chevalier, a partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP<\/a> who specializes in labour and employment law, said in a phone interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added it\u2019s also important to formally advise employees coming back to work of any health and safety measures being implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from new policies around physical distancing and other health precautions, Chevalier said the new COVID world might also require an overhaul of work illness policies.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a3394d9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a3394d9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cWhat do you do if an employee is feeling unwell? Do you pay them? Do you not pay them? What if it\u2019s a runny nose? Chief Executive Officer Tobi Lutke said in a Twitter post Thursday his company is now \u201cdigital by default\u201d as he aims to have most employees working from home on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Similarly, Twitter Inc.\u2019s Jack Dorsey made waves with his comment on letting some employees work from home \u201cforever.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e03c279 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e03c279\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Implementing new technology was a desire and work-in-progress for some companies before the COVID-19 outbreak, but the pandemic has accelerated those plans for many, according to Jeffrey Russell, president of business management consultancy firm Accenture Canada.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s an opportunity to build in new technology and build in new ways of working that make you more agile, cost efficient and resilient,\u201d he said in a phone interview.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing many industries come to us to talk about not just the customer experience, but also the back end in terms of enabling functions to rethink how they use things like artificial intelligence to be more predictive around making decisions, how do we use automation to take fundamentally non-value adding activities out of the core business and allow those people to do more strategic things.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Whether it\u2019s building out digital channels, finding new ways to reach the consumer directly or improving the customer experience, Russell said many leaders are moving quicker, allowing them to \u201cleapfrog\u201d ahead of their competition.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Russell added innovation and technology are playing a big part in \u201cvariablizing\u201d cost structures and helping companies move away from larger, fixed expenses.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>\u201cI think getting \u2018future ready\u2019 means getting greater insight into the art of the \u2018possible\u2019 in terms of what might change with your customer and employees \u2013 and start to purposefully test out new propositions,\u201d he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For companies that are transitioning out of a significant shutdown, some top priorities include recalling workers and addressing new health and safety measures.
