And what will post-pandemic workdays look like\u2014back to the office, working from home or a hybrid? While the light at the end of the tunnel seems within reach, companies across the globe are scrambling to create the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.experfy.com\/blog\/futureofwork\/workplace-culture-without-an-office-is-it-possible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">future workplace<\/a>. One way to predict the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.experfy.com\/blog\/future-of-work-guide\/\">future of work<\/a> is to understand people\u2019s remote work experiences over the last year. And based on recent reports, one thing is clear: remote work has left an impression. The Limeade Institute\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/walkersands-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com\/Redirect?ukey=1yHCMu8IczCgnLeHsukD7y0QL8d5U4aldiI7w7JDRKL4-1953541258&amp;key=YAMMID-14993729&amp;link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.limeade.com%2Fen%2Fblog%2Femployee-care-transition-back-to-workplace%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Employee Care Report 3.0<\/a>\u00a0found that 100% of formerly onsite workers said they\u2019re anxious about returning to the office, 71% said they were concerned about less flexibility and 77% said they\u2019re worried about exposure to Covid-19.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f608219 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f608219\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-e95d3c1\" data-id=\"e95d3c1\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-adbdad0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"adbdad0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Preference For Remote Work<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0e12dde elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0e12dde\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c5e6dc0\" data-id=\"c5e6dc0\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc1f0a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc1f0a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flexjobs.com\/blog\/post\/flexjobs-survey-finds-employees-want-remote-work-post-pandemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">FlexJobs ran a survey of more than 2,100 people who worked remotely during the pandemic<\/a>\u00a0from March 17, 2021 through April 5, 2021. They found that, not only do employees want remote work post-pandemic, 58% say they would absolutely look for a new job if they weren\u2019t allowed to continue working remotely in their current position.\u00a0Plus, 65% want to work remotely full-time post-pandemic, and another 33% prefer a hybrid work arrangement. Top concerns of returning to the office include Covid-19 exposure, less work flexibility and worse work-life balance. Some other top level findings include:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ade0fc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4ade0fc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>55% say their productivity increased while working remotely, while 33% say it stayed the same.<\/li>\n<li>30% say their ability to collaborate has improved in a virtual environment, compared to a traditional office, one-third say their ability to collaborate has suffered (33%) and another one-third say it has been unchanged (34%).<\/li>\n<li>Cost savings is listed as the 2nd top benefit of working remotely (75%), second only to not having a commute (84%), and 38% estimate they save at least $5,000 a year from remote work.<\/li>\n<li>Not having to travel\/drive to meetings (75%), wearing comfortable clothing (58%), the ability to mute (55%) and more scheduling flexibility (51%) were the top favorite elements of video meetings.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>86% engaged in some kind of professional development during the pandemic.<\/li>\n<li>50% like video meetings versus 14% who dislike them.<\/li>\n<li>37% would consider relocating if they had permanent remote work.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>70% do not think working remotely during the pandemic has had an impact either way on their chances of promotion\/advancement.<\/li>\n<li>More than half of remote workers have a specific home office setup, 24% have an actual home office and 34% have created a dedicated home office space.<\/li>\n<li>Nine out of 10 remote workers spent money on their home office in 2020 with 42% spending between $100-$500 while 12% spent more than $1000.<\/li>\n<li>Dealing with technical\/software issues (screens freezing, poor audio, etc.) (58%) is the primary pain point with video meetings. Video fatigue (28%), reading non-verbal cues (28%) and background distractions (26%) followed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Overwork\/unplugging (35%) is the biggest challenge for remote workers. Companies like PwC<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>Microsoft and IBM are hedging their bets on long-term hybrid work models to satisfy employee demands for flexibility, but prioritizing mental health and wellness will also be critical to appease new workforce priorities in the office of the future.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-946d9f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"946d9f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>I spoke with Cynthia Kantor, Chief Product Officer of Corporate Solutions at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.us.jll.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JLL<\/a>, a Fortune 500 company with revenues of $16.6 billion in over 80 countries. Kantor spoke about how employers can ensure a future hybrid workplace with wellness in mind.
