My answer: Become \u201cultra-senior\u201d leaders by applying the science of human behavior dynamics to optimize performance.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8274f6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8274f6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The 2020 zeitgeist and the construct of culture<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a8c2b7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2a8c2b7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">1. Coaching<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1eb6c45 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1eb6c45\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Coaching is sometimes dismissed as irrelevant, but at its root, coaching is readiness training for cultural and behavioral challenges. Brain-based coaching offers the psychologically safe space to prepare for unplanned, disruptive change by applying neuro-leadership techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Brain-based methods teach leaders how to apply the \u201cneurochemistry of trust\u201d to cultivate culture. Applying conversational intelligence or \u201cC-IQ\u201d (the ability to empathize and adapt with agility) increases oxytocin (the \u201cfeel good\u201d hormone) and minimizes cortisol (the \u201cfight, freeze or flight\u201d hormone). In other words, there\u2019s a science to building trust in an organization, and you institutionalize the competency via coaching.<\/p>\n<p>And it works: The head of digital transformation for a major pharmaceutical and labs company recently said \u201ccreating a psychologically safe environment\u201d isn\u2019t a phrase he ever thought he\u2019d use, but the skills he\u2019s learned through brain-based coaching have proven to be the linchpin of his success.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-299e39d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"299e39d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. ABCs<\/strong>:&nbsp;<strong>Actions, behaviors, and C-IQ<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-87b2c4b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"87b2c4b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Leaders drive results by ensuring certain experiences take place, and conversely, by safeguarding that certain behaviors never occur. This laser focus on actions and behaviors that align with \u201cthe way we do things around here\u201d is the crux of cultivating culture.<\/p>\n<p>Successful businesses are rarely built with unhappy teams or angry customers, so senior leaders should be mindful that they influence culture, and ultimately, bottom-line results, with their nonverbal and behavioral signals and feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Learning emotional agility and conversational intelligence through coaching is foundational to transforming work environments and creating the actions, behaviors, and ideal culture for teams to thrive and produce successful business outcomes.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c441f2b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c441f2b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">3. On one recent project, a CIO and COO in the public sector teamed up to create shared leadership goals that included a \u201cculture coalition,\u201d a focus on internal net promoter scores, and regular evaluations of whether colleagues and employees\u2019 work experiences are positive and psychologically safe.<\/p>\n<p>Continuous improvement in culture, virtual leadership and diversity awareness are imperative for the foreseeable future. Institutionalizing cultural goals signals a paradigm shift that ABC-IQs are substantial enough to be measured. These proven steps will measure, manage and keep culture top of mind:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f58c238 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f58c238\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Conduct values and culture assessments,<\/li><li>Delineate both ideal and unacceptable behaviors and actions with guiding principles,<\/li><li>Create developmental goals for brain-based ABC-IQs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be327f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"be327f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">4. The three Rs<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc3fada elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bc3fada\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Rewards and recognition, the first two Rs, drive 90% of results because they signal what is valued by the company. Recognizing that mindset shifts enable teams to work in new ways, CIOs cultivate culture by rewarding cultural competency and humility, interpersonal efficacy, and efforts to uncover unconscious bias.<\/p>\n<p>Reinforcement, the third R, will institutionalize and drive the remaining 10% of the culture you\u2019re trying to cultivate. Once behavioral change goals have been socialized, enforcing and taking corrective action ensures human capital optimization. Feedback in real time is vital. Partner with HR on what performance improvement in culture cultivation looks like for accountability in new ways of working and leading.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e840ba4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e840ba4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">5.
