Machines stand behind everything \u2014 and the scope of this everything is only growing. To what extent can we trust such machines? We are used to relying on them in market trends, traffic management, maybe even in healthcare. Machines are now analysts, medical assistants, secretaries and teachers. Are they reliable enough to work as HRs? Psychologists? What can they tell about us?\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1665c54 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1665c54\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLet\u2019s see how text analysis can analyze your soft skills and tell a potential employer whether you can join the team smoothly.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f0a3ab elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2f0a3ab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProject Description\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-353caa1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"353caa1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn this project, we used text analysis techniques to analyze the soft skills of young men (aged 15\u201324) looking for career opportunities.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f5606bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f5606bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat we had in mind was to perform a number of tests, or to choose the most effective one, to determine ground truth values. The tests we were experimenting with included:\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aaac66d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"aaac66d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMind Tools\u00a0test \u2014 short and simple, but may be difficult for centennials. Test\u2019s output is score (from 1 to 15) for each of the following soft skills categories: Personal Mastery, Time Management, Communication Skills, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Leadership and Management.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a982e8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a982e8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTAT\u00a0test \u2014 the input is a story about a picture, and the system automatically rates it in the following categories: Need for Affiliation, Need for power, Self-references (I, me, my), Social words, Positive emotions, Negative emotions, Big words (> 6 letters). We thought about mapping certain traits: Communication \u2014 Need for Affiliation, Courtesy \u2014 Social words, Flexibility \u2014 Need for Affiliation, Integrity \u2014 Self-references, Interpersonal skills \u2014 Need for Affiliation, Positive attitude \u2014 Positive emotions, Professionalism \u2014 Need for Achievement, Responsibility \u2014 Big words (words with more than 6 letters), Teamwork \u2014 Social words, Work ethic \u2014 Social words. Together with MBTI test results these categories can be mapped on soft skills more accurately.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a344ce2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a344ce2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMyers-Briggs tests\u00a0\u2014\u00a0self-report questionnaires indicating psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions. The received answers are mapped onto four categories: Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling, Judging-Perceiving. There are three options for MBTI tests with about 60 questions in each:\u00a0MBTI test 1,\u00a0MBTI test 2,\u00a0MBTI test 3.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2229ad3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2229ad3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe following table describes how to map MBTI and TAT test results on soft skills.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb8ab2f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fb8ab2f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTable 1. Moreover, we keep track of the user\u2019s past inputs and result to update our findings and to monitor possible changes in the user\u2019s attitudes.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6808586 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6808586\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\n1. As soon as there is no publicly available labeled dataset for soft skills detection, we had to collect our own.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bee0d02 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bee0d02\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTo quickly develop a reliable dataset we decided to expand the users\u2019 tweets and FB posts with produced by them essays and answers to the questions generated by our system.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-56fcfce elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"56fcfce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAt the registration, the user is encouraged to specify his or her social networks profile (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook profiles). For this, we can use a chatbot interface integrated with social media, such as Facebook Messenger.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0d655e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0d655e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\n2. Data preprocessing<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c5e7459 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c5e7459\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAll available texts are used as an input to the model which determines soft skills from the customers\u2019 set.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2c555dd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2c555dd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nTo be fed to the model for training, both questionnaire answers and collected tweets undergo preprocessing, i.e. normalization and tokenizing. At first, with the help of regular expressions, the text is freed from emoji, URLS, numbers, stop words, acronyms, etc.; HTML entities are also replaced with characters. If necessary, we complement text normalization with tokenizing.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d34e367 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d34e367\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA single module is used as an input to the model which determines soft skills from the dataset. A model\u2019s output will be an N-dimensional vector, where N is the number of soft skills used by the system. The\u00a0n-th element of the set will be a probability of the user having\u00a0n-th skill. As an optional second output, we include a confidence score (depending on the model choice).\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb25b20 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fb25b20\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">3. MBTI and soft skills detection<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9fed076 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9fed076\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFor MBTI detection, we chose the approach described at\u00a0Plank, Hovy, 2015. The authors collected a corpus of 1.5M English tweets labeled by gender and MBTI type, and created a model for automatic MBTI detection. Both the corpus and the model are available, and the reported accuracy is 55\u201372% depending on a category (on 2000 tweets). To improve the accuracy and decrease the amount of texts required for accurate detection, we additionally used the approach described in\u00a0Arnoux et. al., 2017.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a409ff elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9a409ff\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nFor soft skills detection, we chose a slightly different approach, namely,\u00a0GloVE\u00a0(Pennington et. al, 2014), and used the Gaussian process as a classifier.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63751ec elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"63751ec\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">4. MBTI and soft skills prediction<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-db92696 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"db92696\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAt the next stage we calculated the features for both MBTI and Soft Skills models. We tried to use the same features for both models in order to optimize calculations. Features were then passed to the MBTI and Soft Skills calculation models. Such features can be run in parallel if the Soft Skills model does not use the MBTI model\u2019s output as an additional input.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b40aa7c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b40aa7c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAt this stage, the system returns a 4-dimensional vector and an optional confidence score. Optionally, it can return 4-letter codes of Myers-Biggs personality type, e.g. \u201cISTJ\u201d, \u201cENFP\u201d.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c0bf30 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1c0bf30\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIt outputs an N-dimensional vector with a certain score for each soft skill (normalized to [0, 1]) and a confidence score as a second (optional) output. Gaussian processes or another Bayesian model allow us to get a confidence score which is compared with a preselected threshold value. A low confidence score means that system is not confident enough, and it cannot estimate MBTI or soft skills. Besides, for both soft skills and MBTI, the system can have a confidence score as an output \u2014 a floating point value from 0 to 1 (where 1 is the highest score). In case of low confidence score (e.g. < 0.5), the user should be asked to write more detailed answers.
