eye-catching.\u00a0In April, UiPath announced a Series D round for $568 million, led by Coatue, for a valuation of $7 billion.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2381d78 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2381d78\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nThen last month there was Automation Anywhere, which raised $290 million in a Series B round led by Salesforce Ventures for a valuation of $6.8 billion.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9420179 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9420179\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSo why all the interest?\u00a0Simply put, RPA has been shown to generate quick and high levels of ROI (Return On Investment) for customers.\u00a0The software essentially automates worker activities that are often tedious and repetitive.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5a4e0c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5a4e0c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nAnd with all the money sloshing around in the RPA space, we should expect quite a bit of action next year. \u00a0\u201cVendors with a combination of cash and vision will succeed,\u201d said Ryan Duguid, who is the chief of evangelism and advanced technology at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.nintex.com\/\">Nintex<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThey\u2019ll flesh out their stacks by combining RPA, traditional BPM, workflow, and cloud services, layering in process documentation, process discovery and analytics, and looking to enable a \u2018virtuous cycle\u2019 of process improvement.\u201d\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa19e17 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fa19e17\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHis company has already been working on this expansion strategy.\u00a0Nintex acquired EnableSoft (for drag-and-drop functions) and Promapp (a process mapping and documentation platform).\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a3d734 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a3d734\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tKeep in mind that RPA has been concentrated in certain industries, like finance.\u00a0But it seems like a pretty good bet that the technology will see expansion across more sectors.\u00a0\u201cAs RPA adoption approaches near-ubiquity, we\u2019ll see an uptick in public sector adoption over the next year, ultimately improving citizens\u2019 access to critical public services, like Social Security,\u201d said Prince Kohli, who is the CTO of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.automationanywhere.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.automationanywhere.com\/\">Automation Anywhere<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThe RPA benefits of speed, reduced costs and productivity are especially relevant to this sector.\u201d\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ef0549 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3ef0549\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJon Theuerkauf, the Chief Customer Officer at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueprism.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.blueprism.com\/\">Blue Prism<\/a>, agrees with this. \u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ll see RPA extend its reach across mainstream industries such as the medical, pharma and telecom spaces given the high volumes of sensitive data,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cUltimately, a true connected-RPA cloud-based platform will look like the re-creation of a human being and possess a skill-set that allows the platform to collaborate with employees on key day-to-day tasks.\u201d\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1307834 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1307834\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBut in terms of the core RPA technology, expect to see dynamism in the new year as well.\u00a0Here are some areas to consider:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Attended Automation:\u00a0\u201cAttended bots are programmed to provide employees with the guidance and assistance they require, in real time directly from their desktops, and automate anything which is repetitive and doesn\u2019t require their special skills,\u201d said Barry Cooper, who is the enterprise group president at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.nice.com\/\">NICE<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cEnterprises are realizing that attended automation will have a positive impact on their employee\u2019s adoption of automation and ultimately on the service they provide to their customers.\u201d<\/li>\n \t<li>Process Mining:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThis technology helps to break down complex problems that could potentially be supported and streamlined with RPA,\u201d said Dr. Gero Decker, who is the CEO of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.signavio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.signavio.com\/\">Signavio<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThis technology also makes RPA more predictive, as it feeds and informs models for more accurate, actionable and effective automation.\u201d<\/li>\n \t<li>Open Source Software:\u00a0\u201cCompanies will embrace open-source, cloud-native RPA, with its significantly lower ramp-up cost and ease of implementation, and see value in hyper-tailored RPA tools specific to their company\u2019s needs,\u201d said Antti Karjalainen, who is the founder and CEO of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/robocorp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/robocorp.com\/\">Robocorp<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThese tools will also start enabling more business-critical RPA applications to emerge.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c957a6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1c957a6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAlthough, the biggest technology trend will likely be AI (Artificial Intelligence).\u00a0\u201cExecutives will prioritize opportunities to automate more aggressively, linking AI projects to KPIs\u2014such as revenue growth, cost reduction and enhanced customer experience,\u201d said Bill Hobbib, who is the SVP of Marketing at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.datarobot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.datarobot.com\/\">DataRobot<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cExecutives also will place greater emphasis on change management and encourage greater involvement from business users\u2014rather than just data scientists or specialist teams\u2014to increase their AI capabilities across more lines of business and processes.\u201d\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-669c6cd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"669c6cd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAll great, right? Absolutely.
