Airports and travel planners are already using advanced technologies, like big data and AI. But new advances in old technology, like mobile devices and WiFi, are causing the biggest changes in business travel \u2014 and may even redefine what a business trip means.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d8417eb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d8417eb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><h2>AI Security and the Airports of the Future<\/h2><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e64c66a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e64c66a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe next time you fly, artificial intelligence might greet you at check-in.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e41b17b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e41b17b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAI is disrupting nearly every field that works with tech, and airlines are no exception. The TSA is using new computer tomography scanners, which use AI to better detect threats (and, if all goes well, make moving through security much quicker). Across the Atlantic, the British government invested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airport-technology.com\/features\/ai-at-airports-security\/\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a31.8 million<\/a> into the development of new AI systems that would be used in Britain&#8217;s busiest airports.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b511356 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b511356\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSome airports also plan to use AI to scan customers faces in order to speed up the check-in and security process. At Atlanta&#8217;s Hartsfield-Jackson airport, US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) teamed up with Delta to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.delta.com\/delta-unveils-first-biometric-terminal-us-atlanta-next-stop-detroit\" class=\"broken_link\" rel=\"noopener\">deploy face-recognition technology<\/a> in the airport. It isn&#8217;t usable yet, but facial scanning is planned to allow customers to check-in, drop baggage, and serve as ID at the TSA checkpoint. The technology may feel invasive to some, but that hasn&#8217;t slowed down plans for the roll-out of the new technology \u2014 after Atlanta, Delta hopes to bring the technology to Detroit.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-985da59 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"985da59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBut AI advancements in the airport seem to begin and end with security. The newest and most luxurious airports, like Changi Airport Singapore, are dense with amenities like IMAX movie theaters and free WiFi. Smart technology and AI, however, don&#8217;t seem to be particularly involved.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83dc075 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"83dc075\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLess flashy (but still hi-tech) advancements like in-flight WiFi and AI-assisted travel planning are more likely to have a bigger impact on your trip outside of security.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6cd18ae elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6cd18ae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><h2>Always-Online Employees and Business Leisure Travel<\/h2><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-efe8640 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"efe8640\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAnd preparing for an extended business trip takes extra planning.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9899ca3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9899ca3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMost flights, especially first-class flights, now offer some kind of internet connectivity while in the air. It is possible to be connected for every second of your trip \u2014 from home to destination and back home again. And there are a variety of gadgets and apps that enable employees to keep working on the move, like mobile power banks, routers, and even mobile printers and scanners.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a49ebda elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a49ebda\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBleisure (or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/johnnyjet\/2018\/10\/25\/are-bleisure-trips-becoming-more-common-this-study-says-yes\/#3cbbcf6a75ed\" rel=\"noopener\">business leisure<\/a>) travel \u2014 business trips with dedicated time for leisure \u2014 is also becoming more common. It is not clear what&#8217;s driving the change. The trend is seen across all age groups and in major cities across the world. It could be Americans want both more vacation and to take less time off work, or that new technology and gadgets make it easier than ever before to mix business and pleasure.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c29eddf elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c29eddf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><h2>Tailor-Fit Travel Planning<\/h2><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-64c64e0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"64c64e0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNew developments in tech mean that customers expect personalized experiences \u2014 and this is true in corporate travel planning, too. In travel planning, huge amounts of data (referred to as big data) collected at every stage of the process \u2014 from booking to the airport to the Airbnb \u2014 will allow travel companies to store preferences for both individual travelers and businesses and use that information to create tailored travel experiences.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-094b535 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"094b535\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBusiness travel agencies will also need to adjust to other changes in customers preference. For example, extended business trips <a href=\"https:\/\/hilledlandfurnishedapartments.com\/blog\/how-to-prepare-for-an-extended-business-trip\" rel=\"noopener\">need special planning<\/a>. And the average <a href=\"https:\/\/travelleaderscorporate.com\/q1-2017-data-and-trends\/\" class=\"broken_link\" rel=\"noopener\">length of a business trip<\/a> is getting longer. Business travel agencies will also need to adapt to a workforce that spends more and more time on the move. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lctmag.com\/article\/730613\/15-major-trends-in-business-travel-for-2018\" class=\"broken_link\" rel=\"noopener\">79% of travelers<\/a> used their mobile phone to complete a booking in 2017. In the future, travelers on business trips will spend less time going through security and more time collaborating with coworkers. Travel plans will be custom-tailored for both individual travelers and the company they work for.
